About CreateX

There has never been a more stimulating time to be a creative maker, or consumer. The disruption that digitisation has brought us has also brought great opportunities to enjoy a new generation of creative activities - from designers to communicators to geeks to interactive performers. At CreateX you will be able to glimpse the future and get a better understanding of how to engage with that future.

WHY?

Creativity fuels our prosperity in the 21st century. QUT Kelvin Grove is now the creative heart of Brisbane. Come see the most sophisticated creative education space in Australia – a digital backbone connecting creative people to creative people. With its immense underground and overground water systems Kelvin Grove has supported life for countless years - from the original inhabitants to new settlers to soldiers to people in the creative industries and beyond.

CreateX gives you a chance to see some of the trends and innovations that are transforming the entertainment landscape - immersive games and performances, interactive-driven performances and installations, projection mapping movies, hybrid events straddling real and digital, 3D films, and virtual and augmented realities. We also welcome our industry, education and community partners from across Brisbane, Australia, India, Chile and USA.

The following works were commissioned & funded by CreateX: Mudskipping, Museum of Colliding Dimensions, Garden of Minuscule Delights, Altered States, Flow and All Walks.

In some cases you can reserve a place in advance for $5 (for QUT Learning Development Funds) or merely turn up and take your chances for a free standby ticket. All workshops are ticketed in advance. Workshop prices vary depending on duration and presenter/equipment costs - these sell out so book early.

Acknowledgement:

In keeping with the spirit of Reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands where QUT now stands, and recognise that these have always been places of teaching and learning.

We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and emerging - and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the QUT community.
