Deconstruction - Image #1

Site-specific sculptural, audio-visual installation by QACI students

Deconstruction is a site-specific sculptural and audiovisual installation by Year 11 Visual Art and Music students of the Queensland Academies Creative Industries Campus. GPS Satellite View and Google Street View maps of selected locations were assigned to students who documented raw visual and sound scapes within the QUT Creative Industries Precinct. The collaboration was then used as the basis for investigating Modernist Abstraction, Postmodern Deconstruction and Musique Concrete.

The Making Of

What's the point of difference?

Deconstruction questions functionality, originality and categorisation within and beyond a Postmodern framework. The 46 artists and musicians, whose work you see on display here, seek to break barriers of convention and Modernist refinement and instead pursue the avant-garde.

How is this relevant to our future lives?

Each site here in the Creative Industries Precinct has been investigated through conceptual processes and the installation reflects each artist and musician’s abstract interpretation of their urban surroundings.
